In an effort to bring the most relevant information and opportunity to our community and members\, the 2018 Economic Forecast will have elements of our Expo and our Business Launchpad. \n\n\n\n10:00am - Doors open for an expo format representing 25 Renton/Chamber businesses.\n\n11:00am - Vision House Non-Profit (Pitch)\n\n11:15am - Skylar Olsen - Director of Economic Research for Zillow.\n\n11:15am - LUNCH\n\n11:30am - Marilyn Strickland - CEO of Seattle Metropolitan CoC. Former Mayor of Tacoma.\n\n12:10pm - Renton Schools Foundation Non-Profit (Pitch)\n\n12:15pm - Community Leader Roundtable - Local leaders discuss opportunities and challenges.\n\n12:45pm - Renton Downtown Partnership Non-Profit (Pitch)\n\n\n\nMarilyn Strickland - Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce\n\n\n\nMarilyn Strickland is the president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Recognized by leaders throughout the Seattle metro area for her principled\, collaborative\, and forward-thinking style\, Strickland champions a regional approach to address our most pressing issues\, including housing affordability\, transportation\, and workforce training. She is the first person of color and second woman to hold this role. \n\nPrior to this position\, Strickland served for eight years as Mayor of Tacoma\, where she forged new ground on transportation\, education\, international investment\, and economic development\, and served for two years as a member of the Tacoma City Council. Prior to elected office\, she worked in both the private and public sectors. She currently serves as a trustee of the Urban Land Institute\, on the Pierce County Advisory Council for Amara\, and is the 2018 Campaign Chair for United Way of Pierce County. \n\nStrickland holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University. \n\n\n\nSkylar Olsen - Director\, Economic Research and Outreach\, Zillow\n\n\n\nSkylar joined Zillow in the summer of 2012. Her research is used by consumers\, policy makers\, and other researchers to understand the real estate markets and make better decisions. While authoring numerous research projects such as A House Divided ? How Race Colors the Path to Homeownership\, she also creates many of Zillow?s real estate metrics\, including the Buyer-Seller Index and the Buy-Rent Breakeven Horizon.
