DESCRIPTION:The Renton Historical Society & Genealogy Center is hosting a photo and short essay contest\, open to anyone with ties to Renton.\n\nWhat to submit: A picture of an artifact (an interesting piece of Renton) with a brief explanation of why this item is worthy of inclusion in RHS&GC's collection.\n\nWhat kinds of things should you share with us?\n\nWe are looking for items--and stories--that scream Renton. Check out our social media for sample entries to give you an idea. We're sure you have something that would be perfect for this contest. Share it with us!\n\n \n\nAdult Category Prizes\n\n\n\n	Grand Prize: Renton staycation at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington + dining at the Water's Table ($500 value)\n	2nd prize: Gift certificate to The Melrose Grill ($200 value)\n	3rd prize: Gift certificate to the Red House ($150 value)\n	4th prize: Gift certificate to Common Ground Coffee ($100 value)\n	Honorable Mention: Gift certificate for groceries/gas ($50 value)\n\n\nYouth Category Prizes\n\n\n	Grand Prize: Gift certificate to Learning Express @ the Landing ($250 value)\n	2nd Prize: DJ?s Sport Cards gift certificate ($100 value)\n	3rd Prize: Color Me Mine pottery painting @ the Landing gift certificate ($100 value)\n	4th Prize: Menchie's gift certificate ($50 value)\n	Honorable Mention: Gift certificate of choice ($25 value)\n\n\nWinners will be announced in November\, and their pictures and essays will be stored safely in our Time Capsule\, to be opened in 25 years on Renton's 150th Birthday Celebration! Contest entries must be received by October 31\, 2026. \n\nPrizes will be awarded for the top 5 entries in our youth and adult divisions. \n\nBonus!\n\nIf you give credit to a school\, they will be eligible to receive a donation as well!\n\n\n\nAny school receiving at least one (1) student (youth) entry will earn a $100 donation. Any school submitting at least one adult entry will earn a $100 donation as well. (With the potential for up to $200 total per school). \nThe school credited with the most entries will earn a $500 donation!
