Join business leaders and fellow chamber members at this informative luncheon. Our speaker is Glenn E. Crellin, Associate Director for Research, Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies University of Washington.
Glenn Crellin has been the Associate Director of the Runstad since the beginning of 2012. Prior to coming to the University of Washington, he served as Director of the Washington Center for Real Estate Research at Washington State University for 18 years. He also spent 16 years conducting and managing research for the National Association of Realtors® in Washington, DC. His research emphasizes the development of information which has practical benefit to real estate practitioners and the general public.
Mr. Crellin's accomplishments include the development of the Housing Affordability Index, a measure of the ability of the middle income family to afford to purchase a home. Current research is focusing on the development of measures of commercial real estate market activity in the state. Recent research has addressed economic impacts of residential development, affordability issues for rental housing as well as structural changes to the real estate brokerage business.
The Center's activities highlight statistical reporting on real estate markets in Washington (both home sales and rental apartments), affordable housing, growth management?s impact on affordable housing, real estate licensee issues and other public policy research related to real estate. Research results are disseminated via subscription publications, and through an extensive Web site (wcrer.be.washington.edu).
Mr. Crellin is an economist who earned his B.A. at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and his Master?s at the University of Maryland.
Glenn currently serves as Chair and Administrative Officer of the Central Puget Sound Real Estate Research Committee, Trustee of the Spokane-Kootenai Real Estate Research Committee, and a member of the editorial review board of the Appraisal Journal and the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education. He is a frequent presenter to real estate and community groups throughout the Pacific Northwest region.
