Renton is starting a new tradition! In celebration of the return of the salmon to the Cedar River, the Renton Downtown Partnership will host a Community Salmon Bake fundraiser to kick off the Run Wild in Renton weekend of salmon fun! The bake will take place on Friday, October 12 starting at 5pm at the Renton Senior Activity Center. Tickets cost $30 per person. Dinner will begin around 6:00 and feature local salmon, delicious sides, and decadent dessert! Door prizes will be given away. Funds raised support community programming and arts in Downtown Renton. Enjoy traditional tribal stories as told by Lois Landgrebe, Senior Muntok Storyteller with the Tulalip Tribe and Northwest Indian Storytellers Association and native drums & dance. We encourage you to return on Saturday to participate in free nature progams provided by Friends of the Cedar River Watershed and Seattle Aquarium, a downtown scavenger hunt, urban market and self-guided pub crawl! In case you didnt know, there are five public locations in Renton and nearby King County that provide excellent viewing of the salmon. They are: Renton Library, Cedar River Park, Riverview Park, Cavanaugh Pond Natural Area and Landsburg Park. Salmon-watchers can always visit these spots on their own. However, every weekend through the end of October, Friends of the Cedar River Watershed offer in these locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
