Special Event to Benefit the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank & Service Center to be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 . 5:30 p.m., catered reception, by invitation only Renton High School . 7 p.m., film showing, open to public Renton's IKEA Performing Arts Center Now, more than ever, we need your help. The numbers of those in need who are flooding food banks are scary - the highest ever. In March, the total number of individuals served soared to 13,500 in Renton, nearly double the count from a year ago. The "boy with backpack" image we're using to promote this year's Need Knows No Season fundraising event is just a symbol of ways the Renton Salvation Army is scrambling to meet the needs of families in crisis. These backpacks get food into the hands of children who, with their siblings, would otherwise face long, bleak, hungry weekends. Renton schools have identified 247 K-12 children as homeless in the 2007-2008 school year. You helped us reach all these children with the food-filled Weekend Backpack program this past March - a new high. OUR CARING SPONSORS - corporate and individual - make a crucial difference in the lives of those served by the Renton food bank. This year's event will be a special evening, starting with a catered festive reception - by invitation only, socializing, and a salute to our sponsors and donors. Our PREMIER (GOLD) SPONSOR - at the $10,000 level - will be recognized with six seats at the head table. Renton Mayor Denis Law has graciously agreed to serve as master of ceremonies for the evening. Part of the recognition package for PARTNER (SILVER) SPONSORS is preferred seating at "silver" tables near the head table. There are also sponsorship opportunities at the $2,500 and $1,000 levels. And we've added a new feature to our benefit - the screening of a poignant, gritty film on the impacts of homelessness. where GOD left his shoes Starring John Leguizamo, this heartwarming movie, was produced by VULCAN to be a catalyst. To spark a spirited dialogue among public agencies, community organizations, businesses, churches and caring citizens with a shared goal of addressing homelessness. PLEASE JOIN US. Invite compassionate friends. This showing is open to the public and we hope to fill all 500 sets of the IKEA Performing Arts Center
