The Legislative & Transportation Committee supports Renton Chamber membership by advocating for sound business practices and policies at both the local and state levels. The committee works to ensure the voice of Renton’s business community is represented through advocacy in Olympia, development of Chamber policy positions, review of legislation, referendums and initiatives, and coordination of legislative events and engagement opportunities throughout the year. The committee serves as a bridge between business, government, and community partners to promote policies that support economic vitality, public safety, and regional mobility.
Guest Speaker: Andrew Yi
Andrew Yi is a member of the Washington State Bar Association’s Court Rules and Procedures Committee, where he serves as Chair of the Subcommittee studying proposed amendments to the Rules of Appellate Procedure. During this session, Mr. Yi will share how members of the community can participate in shaping court rules and influencing policy decisions. His discussion will include current topics of interest such as maximum hold times for individuals who have committed crimes—often referred to as “catch & release”—and how procedural rules impact both the justice system and the broader community.
