Interactive Holistic
Mental Health Experience
& Fundraising Gala
Highlighting the inadequacy of resources available for the black community
Mental health is an essential element in any community, but notably the Black and Brown community. The stigma surrounding mental health in the black and brown communities diminishes room for the mere idea that it even exists. Aboriginal Americans, being a marginalized group, have suffered centuries of oppression, racism, and severe injustice. The Black community suffers from an increased rate of mental health concerns, including anxiety and depression. The increased occurrence of mental and emotional concerns in the Black community is related to the lack of access to suitable and culturally approachable mental health care, prejudice, and racism are inherent in the daily environment of Black individuals, and historical trauma enacted on the Black community by the medical field.
We want to create an experience that honors the struggle but simultaneously creates an environment where the black community feels motivated and comfortable to seek help and be an advocate for others in our community to seek mental health assistance as well.
Art/Therapy Installation Aspects...
Poetry/Writing Workshop- We will be inviting a local writer to walk through how to utilize the art of writing to work through trying times. As a way to process trauma and mental hardships.
Ecotherapy Area – Zen Garden- Ecotherapy is the practice of being in nature to boost growth and healing, especially mental health. You might also hear it called green care, green exercise, green therapy, or horticulture therapy.
Massage Area- Experiencing and understanding how beneficial massage therapy can be to one's overall well-being.
Interactive Selfie station- Creating Selfie stations that are interactive, innovative, and memorable. Providing an opportunity to reflect and celebrate yourself and other guests.
Nutritional Wellness Area- Having a specialist on-site who can teach the importance of how physical, and nutritional wellness play an integral part of Mental Health.
Art Therapy Station- One or two or all in rotation can lead a small art pod in the concept of art therapy. The Approach to this can vary depending on each of the artist approach to the concept.
Budtender Information Center- We will have a cannabis educator from Evergreen Market who specializes in the holistic approach of dealing with mental health crises and working through trauma, by educating the guest on what products will best serve them and their needs.
