Topic: MANAGING THE POLITICS OF YOUR ORGANIZATION:
Essential Elements of Politically Savvy Leadership to Advance a Mission

At the heart of mission-driven organizations is the magic of uniting diverse people to accomplish extraordinary results together.  The forces that mobilize movements and fuel missions, as well as fulfill diverse agenda, however, can be extremely powerful and complex.. Political situations arise often amongst diverse people interacting in a nonprofit environment; and depending on how leaders choose to manage the politics of their organizations, the results can either build a stronger sense of commitment and understanding or it can lead to a paralysis that puts an organization in a tailspin and its mission on hold.

Jeffrey Wilcox, CFRE, President and Chief Mission Advancement Officer at Third Sector Company will be sharing some ideas and encouraging significant discussion about what it means for today’s nonprofit leader to be politically-aware, politically-astute and politically-savvy.  As the former Senior Vice President of United Way of Greater Los Angeles, co-developer of the Wells Fargo New Executive Directors Institute of Greater Los Angeles, founder of Board Chairs Academy and Interim Executives Academy, and author of “The Nonprofit Leader of the New Decade,” Jeffrey has devoted his career to developing nonprofit leaders with a “tough love” edge advocating for boards and executives to unleash the power of their people as the single largest contribution to the greatness of a community cause.  Since 2002, Third Sector Company has served over 700 nonprofits in the United States and Canada with leadership solutions including succession planning and leadership transition, interim executive management, executive search, executive retention, and nonprofit talent development.

This is an especially good meeting to bring a friend, a colleague or your executive director to discuss the art of managing organizational politics as an inherent part of being a great leader in the nonprofit sector.
