9:00am Welcome
9:05am Leadership Skills with Kris McRea
Let’s talk about leadership skills! It’s crucial that nonprofit leaders value their talent as
much as they value the budget, their fundraising goals, their donors and their impact. To
build and scale resilience, we have to cultivate a culture in which brave work, tough
conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation, and perfectionism and hustling for
your worth is not necessary or rewarded.
Braver leaders are needed in our communities and nonprofit workplaces, but braver
leaders cannot embrace courage without being vulnerable, facing risk, and exposing
themselves emotionally. Courage is teachable and can be operationalized in your
workplace and your world.
Through an overview of the four skill sets of daring leadership from Brené Brown’s Dare
to Lead™, you will walk away from this interactive workshop with more awareness that
through daring leadership, we can lean into tough conversations, give hard but
necessary feedback, build trust, own our mistakes and our biases, bounce back from
failure and walk our talk.
Kris McRea is the owner of McRea Consulting and Coaching, serving the mission to build
and support more courageous, transparent, and wholehearted nonprofits, small
businesses, workplaces and communities. Kris is a facilitator, consultant, and leadership
coach with decades as a corporate executive, entrepreneur, and nonprofit leader. Kris is
a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator and Courage Catalyst with the Dare to Lead™
program and was trained by Brené Brown. Kris facilitates the Puget Sound Nonprofit
Consultants Coffee for consultants that are in service of nonprofit missions in the
Northwest. She is a proud board member of Wellspring Ensemble, and a native Seattleite
with her family and dog Jackson.
