For the last 10+ years the Renton Chamber has hosted a Business and Education Exchange program allowing teachers and businesses to pair up and spend some time together. After all, our business community is interested in their future employees and educators want to make sure they are on track to equip students with all the possibilities for a career.
This year we are asking some of our larger employers to provide a tour of their operations after 4:00 PM the month of February. The teachers meet at the Renton Chamber and a tour shuttle will be provided on specific dates. Only 10 per tour and to be the first on the list, the teachers can register at the upcoming Business and Education Exchange at Renton High School, starts at 4 PM with a light dinner provided.
The tours include Boeing, PACCAR, City of Renton, Renton School District Transportation, Renton Technical College, Renton Coil Spring, Hyatt/SECO, First Financial Northwest Bank and VMAC (Seahawks). These tours are up close and personal tours allowing you access to areas not open to the public.
Please plan to attend the meeting on February 1st, 4:00 PM at Renton High School (Commons Area). We will feed you and get you out quick. The advantage to being at the meeting is you get to sign up for a tour first. Only 10 teachers per tour. We expect these tours to be very popular and fill quickly. At this time only 1 tour per teacher.
Business leaders are matched with Renton school administrators and teachers, they spend time at each others place of work. Great partnerships between education and business have started through this program.
Teams are encouraged to answer the following questions about their experience.
·What are your most significant observations from your exchange visit? ·What significant observations do you think your partner came away with? ·What successes are evident in my partners business or classroom? ·What challenges does my partner face in business or the classroom? ·What are the major differences or similarities in or workplaces/workdays? ·How can we work together in the future for our kids and our community?
