University of Washington OSHER series continues with Aaron Leonard, author and contributor to the History News Network. He will speak about two of the most influential folk singers of the twentieth century. Guthrie whose canon continues to shape music today and Van Ronk an early folksong mentor to Bob Dylan. The two political partisans peaked the interest of the FBI. This course will bring life to the link and intrigue between the Second Red Scare and the Great Folk Scare of the sixties.
