About Us

Theatre33 is a bilingual 501(c)(3) non-profit community theatre. We provide a unique platform for transplanted immigrants and next generation Americans to retain and maintain their connection to history, literature and language. We serve as a cultural hub to unite diverse cultures and ages through the love of dramatic arts. Our productions are either in Russian or English and are subtitled to allow mixed-language families, Russian language learners, and non-Russian speaking patrons to have a complete and quality experience. The youth theater draws American-born kids for whom Russian is a second or third language.
We incorporated in 2013, playing in friends’ living rooms and venues around Seattle and the Eastside for the first few years. Five years ago, we leased our own little black box theater that we have lovingly been calling our home. We have been gaining momentum ever since, establishing our patron base, growing our donor list and most importantly, providing quality live theatrical entertainment and education to a broad demographic. Our adult actors typically put on 4-6 productions. A group of these actors also produces shows for the children. We have an active and growing youth program that presents 2-3 productions in a typical year. We typically close off our season with a literary-musical original composition that pays tribute to a poet of the past. This production includes adults and children who are interested in participating.
From contemporary plays to beloved classics, our mission is to develop the interest of our volunteers and patrons in the dramatic arts.
